Mark is an elite amateur triathlete and marathoner who has successfully completed the 1997 Ironman Triathlon World Championships in Hawaii, the 2006 World Championships 70.3 and many Ironmans across the country and abroad. He has had impressive finishes in a number of road races including 12 Boston Marathons and the 2000 New York City Marathon, where he placed in the Top 150 among 30,000 finishers. As a cross-country runner in college, Mark was named the top scholar athlete in CUNY, Hunter College Athlete of the Year, 3x MVP, and an Academic All-American. At Cathedral Prep HS, he was a member of the CHSAA Championship Handball team, a captain and MVP on the basketball team, and won the Senior Award. He is a member of USA Triathlon and a sponsor for Special Olympics. In 2006, he earned Honorable Mention All-American from the USAT and in 2008 All-American. He has also been sponsored by Amino Vital as a Local Hero athlete and currently holds product sponsorship from Polar Heart Monitors, Nuun, Aquaphor, Swiss Eye, and BioFreeze.
Mark has a degree in Exercise Science from Hunter College and has worked in the fields of physical therapy, strength/conditioning, and rehabilitation. He has worked for St. Joseph’s College as athletic department office manager while coaching the cross-country teams, volunteered as official, coach, and assistant to the director for St. Stan’s Athletic League, and served as youth minister for the Diocese of Brooklyn/Queens. Mark specializes in creating personalized training/nutrition programs for youth teams and adults. He moved to Charlotte in 2007 with his fiance Regina and worked as a store manager for The Charlotte Running Company, a specialty running store in Charlotte, NC. They returned to NYC in 2010 for a job he was offered by Polar.
TEAMMC is a selected group of people who have an influence in my development as a person physically, emotionally, and spiritually. They each have qualities that enhance the ability of people to learn and appreciate every aspect of life. Due to their support I am able to continue racing across the globe encouraging fitness and wellness to the youth within my community.
Mark has completed marathons in Boston, Maine, Miami, Washington DC, South Carolina, and NYC (including Long Island).
He has also done Ironmans in Florida, California, Ohio, Lake Placid, Coeur D’Alene (Idaho), Japan, and Hawaii and shorter triathlons in New Hampshire, Maine, Montauk, Philadelphia, and Laguna Phuket, Thailand.
EuroCylcle ‘01 took a group from St Stans’s on an 1100 mile bike tour through Poland, Germany, Slovakia, Czech Republic, Austria, and Hungary.
He has also been to Rome as part of a youth group for World Youth Day 2000.
